Clock Gear Steampunk Necklace

Finally! I'm back on DA. Its been a rough month. Was off in Dec. with some very icky sick. That was pretty rough. Then the comp died. Its still flapping too, and occasionally falls over.

Anyway.. I found some wonderful wonderful gears. These are real clock gears, and do show a bit of surface scratches and small small patterning. Actually they are a bit lighter than in the photos I think, but I try my best.

This stunning steampunk Clock Gear Necklace features repurposed brass clock gears. Three large gears are just a bit over one inch round are flanked by two slightly smaller brass clock gears . To me, nothing says steampunk like gears, and these wonderful, sturdy gears are a perfect medium for this design.

Clock gears are quite sturdy and about 1mm thick so they won’t bend or get out of shape. I was absolutely thrilled to get a limited number of these matched pairs to create this work. The large gears are 1 inch in diameter and the smaller are 0.8 inches round.

In between the gears I’ve added more modern bits of hardware in the form of round silver washers. It’s an industrial component yet for this purpose it has been transformed into an element of design.
