Description
This very simple necklace has some unusual elements that come together in a lovely piece of steampunk jewelry.
The main feature is a wonderful optometrist's lens from a vintage set. Unlike many of these test sets this one has a wonderful black metal frame. You can see this particular lens is a plus lens +1.50 (for farsighted vision). It provides a bit of magnification.
Years ago I worked in the optical industry making contact lenses. I still have a bunch of scrap ones I saved - hard contact lenses. Maybe one day I'll use a few. heh.
I have a few of these lovely lenses and a few keys, and plan on doing a couple of these necklaces. I thought I would have this one up on etsy for a few days... but it sold in 30 minutes. sigh. Now I must find the time to make some more.
I'm really crunched for time these days. its near depressing. I can sometimes make things at 7am. That seems the only time I can.

I hope you have more free time soon! My time has also become quite crunchy of late; I've been trying to get ready for my first out-of-town show and there just aren't enough hours in the day!
