Wow.. busy busy busy

Journal Entry: Thu May 1, 2008, 11:29 AM
I can't believe how busy I've been. Work has been so stressful I thought I was having a heart attack on Monday at noon. I have a bunch of Admins I work with that really don't care about our customers. It drives me crazy. Stuff blew up on Monday.. but now, finally its all fixed. My frustrations with them are compounded by the fact they seem to think they don't need to maintain our machines. grr.. grrr!

anyway, I've also been super busy after the gallery show. It went pretty well. I sold a few pieces.. which was really great. I'm probably going to end up signing with them - so I'll have a semi-permanent spot. Its a nice offer and their commission is only 30% so its really fair.

What else?
There's going to be a "Goth, Steampunk, Cyber, Artist etc Craft/Yard sale and Swapmeet" here in Toronto - that sounds really keen. There are about 8 crafters going to be there - and it looks like just a few jewelers. I might find some clothing I like and swap one or two of the Cyberpunk necklaces for something if I can find it in my size.

I realized because I'm on here so rarely I had about 200 messages plus to get through. I finally got all caught up today. Thats the good news. The bad news is that I'm going to be on here LESS when they firewall down our workplace - leaving us crippled.

do you ever think / dream of finding another job?
lol
My own personal job - tech support - has been lovely. I work with / am a geek. I love the people. Great bunch of guys. (90% guys - we do backbone support and I do webserver support). Love this job... but.. but ... its been getting stressful. And we're owned by a Big USA giant that is doing the lockdown of our stations, monitoring all calls and questioning why we spend 10 min on the phone. Its annoying. They have offered me a new position but it is not so technical... so we shall see. I hope I'll like it.

and what else...
I've not been writing so much lately. The editor poked me about getting him a short story for some new anthology but .. all my energies seem to be focused on the jewelry. Why can't i do 10 things well at once? why? sigh. Still I'm nearly 2/3rds through writing novel #2. And about.. 1/2way through novel #3. and editing 4 short stories to submit. And i've gotta book a week off really - to get novel #1 edited. Sure. I've been editing it for 2 yrs. Editing is my bane.

Make sure to take care of yourself. No job is worth a heart attack.

The swapmeet sounds like fun!

well.. i married a fella from Kentucky! :D
I love visiting America.. but I don't think I could live there. Its a great country but I have a lot more liberal view of things - and I know I'd probably get in trouble down south more than I would here. I believe in gay marriage for example. :D My husband says that Americans don't realize how they perceive their own country until they live outside of it for a while. I think this could apply to most everyone though. I feel sorry for many people in your country without good jobs and healthcare.

I'm not sure how many people believe in gay marriage in the US, but i know not many believe in it where i am. I live in what is called the "Bible Belt", I'm sure your husband will know what im talking about. Everyone here has very...ahem...archaic views of how the world should be run. Translate the bible literally so to say, and if you don't agree with that you are a "heathen"

Sadly there are alot of people without jobs or health care, i pay for my own health care and wow its just (according to me) way to expensive. I dont know if you have heard about the gas issue or not yet, but the lack of jobs isnt doing anything for that either. (I had to pay $3.49 cents per gallon today! and i live in the middle of nowhere too)

How does the health care work in Canada anyway? I've heard its good and covered by the government (?).

I can totally relate to the need to do ten things at once. I work full time too, at a convenience store, and we're approaching the busy season. During the spring and summer, you can go nine hours on your feet without a proper break, and then you go home and there's an ungodly amount of housework (especially for someone who lives alone, heh) and a business that still hasn't got off the ground and the book I haven't worked on for six weeks and the short story series that has taken over my brain and I haven't drawn anything in weeks, so my muse is almost ready to stage a hostile takeover of my brain...
But anyway...I want to read your book! What's it about? You have to let us know when it's done, I haven't had anything new to read for ages! Do you have a publisher yet?

wow.. thank you :D
lol. i just think I have some form of ADD - where I can't *not* have 4 things on the go at once. Alas, the writing is the thing right now that is a bit on hold. I love writing but it also can drive a person crazy... well drive me crazy :D
thank you for your support :D

sigh.. no publisher. not yet. you have to send them just-about-perfect copies of anything before they will look. Editors don't really edit. they sell your work.

Novel 1 = a fun romp: zombie hunter/ investigator becomes involved with a beautiful Goth girl who is being plagued by the undead

Novel 2 = "Trine" - a 3 part novel written by a Pilot, the Captain and the Ship. Almost done The Captain's Pov. A very political novel set on an alternate Earth where homosexuality is illegal and genetic purity determines your status in the world.

Novel 3 = "Gehn" - on an distant planet a prison guard develops a relationship with one of the non-human prisoners - a gehn - that has been developed to fight other gehns in arenas. When she helps him escape it triggers a revolution that will force humanity to confront the fact that they don't control their own creations.

you sound as busy as me. crazy eh?
