This was sold before it ever really hit the market, so to speak. A steampunk writer friend of mine has bought 2 different brooches - both with wings. There are lovely blood-red stones at the top. The wings sit at the side as shown here, but also fold back behind the brooch.
really it feels like it. i feel.. crazy. but I usually can only work til about 8pm before I need to stop... i start work at 8:30 - get home around 5:30. So there's a window of time from about 6pm til 8pm to create.. and take photos. Or update the etsy site. After that I'm pretty much toasted. If I get up at 6am - i can make jewelry for almost an hour... depending. At the least 30 min.
mine are about 2 inches. They were with an earring pack I bought at *cringe* Claire's. You maybe able to find them online but I don't know, I bought them at the store. They came in 3 colors, black, red, and silver. They're pretty light too. ^_^ Where do you get the little clock gears I've seen with your other work, I've been looking every where for some.
i've been taking apart watches. Unless you have a really tiny tiny extra small screwdriver it can be a chore. You need one smaller than the ones you find at hardware stores that are called "watch repair" screwdrivers. My dad had a set.
You might try looking for old wind up alarm clocks... or pocket watches. You don't get a lot of gears per piece - but at least a clock is much easier to get apart. I'll keep an eye out on ebay for you if i see any - i'll let you know. sometimes they go for better prices.
Some day we're going to have to arrange a trade, if you'd be interested!
i've not done any trades yet mostly because I just can't seem to keep up. I started getting up at 6am now. :: head desk ::
6am! madness.
I do have a few interesting cyberpunk vacuum tubes I've got set away. Lets see how crazy it all gets in the next month or so
Oh gracious, 6 AM? That IS madness!
