Steampunk dolphin earrings by clockwork-zero Steampunk dolphin earrings by clockwork-zero
I love dolphins and these laughing little dolphins are sterling silver and so cute. They're dancing in front of a backdrop of some watch parts. They look kind of big in the photo but the circles are actually smaller than a penny and very thin. I've put a special bead at the back and you can just see it through one.

At the top are some nice, clear garnet beads. They are very simple but I think very pretty and lots of fun.

whew! tough question... I used to own a bead shop - a very very small bead shop - many years ago. some material is left over from that. The watch parts came from watches - old non-working watches. Talk about recycling! Sometimes I still hit the bead stores for little things that i need - and sometimes I'll pick up stuff. I actually also find stuff off the street, in old 2nd hand stores, and at garage sales. Sometimes I'll pick up strange bits and carry them around for years waiting for the right moment.

using old watch parts was a brilliant idea.
and it's pretty nifty that you used to own a bead shoppe.

heh.. it was fun but a LOT of work. more than I expected. When I had to move back to Toronto I got rid of a lot of it.

sigh. My beads were all stored in huge rubbermaid containers for easier transport. They weren't filled to the top though. [link]
cause there's only so much weight that it can take. I have about 3 of those left.

Currently I'm keeping my Beads separate to my Steampunk stuff. The Steampunk stuff is now in these 6 Drawer plastic storage towers - about 4.5ft high. Inside those are these plastic boxes with dividers - they were for Fishing Gear - with lots of little sections.

I really struggle to keep it all organized. I still spend a lot of time searching for stuff.

You should try making some bead jewelry first - simple necklaces - you can even thread it on elastic until you like what you do. But i know what you mean - i'm not great at drawing! we all have our own strengths.
