Magnetic Vacuum necklace

Description

so this is one of my newer designs - and its a combination of 2 things - magnetic fuses and a large vacuum tube. The long glass “;pendents” are actually not beads – but magnetic switches. If you have a look at the closeup photo I've provided you'll see the electric components and if you held a magnet against one side the switch would move. Once the magnet is pulled away from the switch it will go back to its original position. I didn't know much about them until I made a post on my blog and a fellow wrote to tell me he worked in a factory making them. The switches are around 4cm long including some of the copper wire (1.6in).

I chose a very unusual vacuum tube for this piece. This tube has a very unusual series of holes that go all the way around the cage assembly. I love it because it makes me wonder what lurks inside. The holes are all regular in size and I feel it works very well with the switches which have some dark, round elements inside. The vacuum tube is about 5cm long and 2cm wide - about 2in x 0.8in.

The chain is a custom design that I've created just for this piece. It is over on my clockworkzero etsy page - [link]
actually the listing is here: [link]

The vacuum tube is similar to the one from the WIRED magazine article that Clive bought. I think his had more silver. :D anyway, I'd be thrilled if you click on the link, or if you Stumble it.. :D let me know if you had a look :D
