This is one of the largest tubes I have - so I put it on a special chain as well... (see next photo). It really has this industrial feel. I just posted it up last night on etsy for sale - half the pendant is really due to the weight of the chain.. its heavier than most but matches up with the grid inside this Vacuum Tube.
I scrounged up some new hardware shapes for the chain too.

This has to be one of my fav Vacuum Tubes - and the good news is that I acquired 3 that are very very similar. If someone is interested in buying something directly (not via etsy) you should drop me an email at zero.space @ gmail.com - because I can knock off a few dollars.

anyway, a bit about these tubes:
they are not useable anymore - these are not super old rare working tubes - in case anyone was worried. Basically, they are almost trash.
Whats inside a tube?
Is it dangerous?

well most of these tubes were from the 70's and later (80s)... I can't tell exactly whats in them but it appears most of the silvery coating is probably magnesium... which oxidizes quite quickly. there's a great article here on the "getter" - the silver material (no, not lead nor mercury!) - at this site: [link]

Thank you... I am really happy with the design... I was looking for simple yet complex. Something that is Cyberpunk too. I'm in love with cyberpunk writing - trying my hand writing it - so to me this combination of "metal / glass / hardware" really hits that place.
they are just fascinating

Do you think you will post any of your writing? :)
I'm writing some Victoriana right now but it isn't truly Steampunk.
I may post it if I ever finish!

The problem with posting writing is that it makes it very difficult to sell - since most publishers then consider it "published online" and thus don't want to pay you for it :D
I've got one piece in an anthology now called "Desolate Places". I've got 2 other pieces under consideration at a few markets. And I've got a massive trunk of stories to edit (2 half-finished novels, 1 st Draft that is completed) - and at least 5 new stories that need homes.

My own writing is more SF - or sorta Cyberpunk. The short story in Desolate Places is pretty much SF.

This is so cool. I love the tube but I especially love the chain.
